Paytm loan disbursements increase 401% year-on-year in December quarter



The parent company of financial services firm Paytm, One97 Communications, said on Monday it saw a 401% year-over-year (YoY) increase in loan disbursements through its platform in the October-December quarter at 44 lakh. It disbursed loans amounting to Rs 2,180 crore, registering 365% year-on-year growth.

“We have seen tremendous growth in each of the loan products, namely Paytm Postpaid (Buy Now-Pay-Later), personal loans and merchant loans,” the company said in its quarterly update filed with scholarships.

The gross merchandise volume (GMV) during the quarter increased 123% to Rs.250,100 crore. He said the year-to-date GMV is already higher than the full year 21 GMV, due to significant growth in non-UPI GMV.

The company defines GMV as the value of the total payments made to merchants through transactions on its app, through Paytm payment instruments, or through its payment solutions over a period. It excludes all consumer-to-consumer payment services such as money transfers.

Paytm said its monthly transaction users (MTUs) increased 37% to 6.44 crore in the December 2021 quarter. Additionally, he said the company now has more than 20 lakh devices deployed to across the country.

“The total number of devices deployed on our merchant base has increased from 0.9 million as of June 30, 2021 to approximately 1.3 million as of September 30, 2021 to approximately 2.0 million as of December 31, 2021,” the file states. ‘exchange.
