At April 21th, Shred-it workers overcame an aggressive anti-union campaign by management and voted overwhelmingly to join Local 469 in Hazlet, New Jersey Since electing the Teamsters as their bargaining representative, workers have been fighting for a union contract that protects workers’ rights and guarantees fair wages. Meanwhile, the company continued to stagnate at the bargaining table in hopes that workers will lose faith in the union.

Workers from other Stericycle and Shred-it sites at Toledo, Youngstown, Providence and New York are fed up with the games too and have also taken union action to demand a fair contract. The Teamsters are united in this fight and will not back down until justice is served. ”

Shred-it, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stericycle, Inc., provides confidential shredding services to businesses across the United States and Canada. This autumn, Ohio Local 377 and Local 20 workers went on strike to protest the company’s anti-worker behavior at Stericycle.
