Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp kicks off advanced Anfield transfer talks, while a Chelsea youngster is attracting Premier League interest – both in all recent Euro Paper Talk.
KLOPP FORCES ADVANCED CONFERENCES OTAVIO
Liverpool have started advanced talks on a deal to bring Porto midfielder Otavio to Anfield, according to a report.
The Reds are a lighter man in the midfield after Georginio Wijnaldum left Paris Saint-Germain. Although largely passed under the radar, the Dutch international has proven to be a key figure for manager Jurgen Klopp. As such, assessing how Liverpool cope with his absence will be a key topic for next season.
Several names have entered the fray for potential new additions to the midfield. Interest in Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Mönchengladbach faded, while Aston Villa stuck their heels on John McGinn.
More recently, however, the Otavio de Porto has been linked with a move to Merseyside. Although he has a € 60million (£ 51million) release clause in his contract, he can leave for € 40million (£ 31million) before the end of June.
According to a new report from a bola (Going through Sports witness), Liverpool responded to an “express request” from Klopp to seal Otavio’s signing.
As a result, the Reds are in advanced talks as they “forcefully” move towards a deal.
Klopp is said to be an “avowed lover” of Otavio’s quality in midfield, as he offers crucial versatility in midfield.
The Brazilian has also shown a penchant for goals and assists, contributing 12 of the latter in 42 appearances in all competitions last season. Moreover, he added three goals to help Porto finish second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
Porto and Liverpool could still do more business this summer, with Marko Grujic also linked with transfer between clubs.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at Portugal but would struggle to regain minutes at Anfield. According to Record (Going through Sports witness), however, the agreements for Otavio and Grujic will not be automatically linked.
