Hodder & Stoughton has acquired three new mystery novels from Luca Veste, with the first, You never say goodbye, to be released in February 2022.
Novel and thriller publisher Jo Dickinson acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a three publisher auction, in a deal with Phil Patterson at Marjacq Scripts. North American rights will be managed by Nicole James at the James Literary Agency.
You never say goodbye marks a new direction for Veste after his police procedures and supernatural / criminal crossover novels, the editor said. The synopsis says: “You never say goodbye tells the story of Sam Cooper whose mother died as a child, leaving him separated from his father. But on his deathbed, his father makes a devastating confession that shatters Sam’s life and sends him in search of answers. “
Dickinson said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Luca to Hodder. Luca is loved within the crime fiction community and You never say goodbye is his most ambitious book to date. He captured such rhythm and suspense in this novel, delivering a story that will surprise and delight. “
Jacket commented: “I am delighted to join the Hodder team and continue my working relationship with the amazing Jo Dickinson. Hodder & Stoughton publish some of my favorite authors and I am honored to join the ranks there. I wanted to write a book like You never say goodbye for a long time and I am incredibly excited to share this new direction with readers. “
Jacket’s most recent novels include The game (S&S, 2020), The silence (Sourcebooks Landmark, 2020) and The six (S&S, 2019). He is the host of the “Two Crime Writers and a Microphone” podcast, co-founder of the Locked Up Festival and bassist of the Fun Lovin ‘Crime Writers.
