After spending her formative years in Bathurst, author Aofie Clifford began to carve out a decorated career as a detective novelist, with her latest novel investigating the mysteries and buried truths of a small town. Ms Clifford was motivated to write the novel based on experience she had at work as a part-time librarian in an independent Melbourne bookstore.
“One day a person came into the store and told me the story of a dark red dress she had found in a store in Melbourne 15 years before, and she was obsessed with where the dress was. had finished,” she said.
“The dress turned out to be my wedding dress, which I still own, and after she came back a few years later to ask someone to paint a picture of the dress, it got me thinking about the way word-based people go about solving cases using visual clues, which founded the direction for When we fall.“
