Law360 (June 28, 2021, 7:55 p.m. EDT) – The Biden administration on Monday backed a Trump-era rule that will require importers of certain aluminum products to obtain a government license to bring their shipments to U.S. ports.
President Joe Biden delayed implementing the rule shortly after taking office. It was designed to better track aluminum imports into the United States in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s national security tariffs. After another round of comments from the domestic aluminum industry, the US Department of Commerce moved forward with the licensing requirement.
