While Manchester United seem serious about a long term plan following the appointment of Ralf Rangnick, what will happen in the short term at Old Trafford will be fascinating as well.
The current campaign is well below expectations and a title challenge already appears to overtake the Red Devils.
However, the current squad still have sufficient quality to compete for the top four, as well as the Champions League and FA Cup.
The January window could be fascinating with that in mind, as the Red Devils try to be competitive right now and build an exciting future for themselves as well.

Manchester’s ‘bad weather’ will stop De Jong’s move
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong’s father has said Manchester United and Bayern Munich are unlikely transfer destinations for his son.
With Barcelona in dire financial straits, De Jong has been linked with an estrangement as he is arguably the club’s most valuable asset. The former Ajax player is one of the most gifted playmakers in world football at his best.
Speaking to a Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad (h / t Metro), John de Jong commented on the prospect of a move to Manchester or Munich.
“It is often bad there,” he said. âOf course it’s about football, but it’s important.
“Of course I know Barcelona need the money and an interesting offer for Frenkie could help, but I don’t think it’s happening anytime soon. Although Europe’s top five clubs have all called.”

Cavani asks the Corinthians
According to Globo Esporte (h / t Sport Witness), Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani would demand a three-year contract to join the Corinthians.
The Uruguay international was linked with the Brazilian giants over the weekend and with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, a January move could be considered for the 34-year-old.
However, Cavani’s demand for a long-term deal was reportedly not welcomed by the Corinthians, with the forward turning 35 in February.
The former Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain forward has also been linked with Barcelona in recent times.

Kamara on United’s radar
According to The Athletic (h / t 101 Great Goals), Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the campaign and United are among the teams interested in signing him.
The 22-year-old’s contract at Stade Vélodrome expires this summer and after impressing the Marseille midfielder’s base in recent years, there will likely be plenty of clubs keen to get him back on a free transfer.
United lack a top-tier midfielder and Kamara would potentially close a big gap in the squad if he were to move to Old Trafford.
The France youth international can also play at center-back if needed, meaning he could be a valuable option to have around.
