Fans of mystery, rejoice !!

There’s a new Acorn TV Original just around the corner, and it’s very, very good.

PD James has written 14 novels based on detective and poet Adam Dalgliesh, and the new series is simply called Dalgliesh.

Bertie Carvel brings the enigmatic yet emotionally intelligent and empathetic Dalgliesh to life in a season set in 1970s England.

Dalgliesh specializes in solving unusual murders. The cases may seem relatively mild, but they unfold in unusual ways and strike a chord with the viewer.

We will first meet Dalgliesh who is investigating the murder of a nursing student poisoned to death during a live training demonstration (death sticks to your skin!).

Another investigation will focus on the murders of a homeless man and a recently resigned Tory MP who had their throats cut in a London church.

Dalgliesh investigation

Dalgliesh will also be called upon to resolve a series of suspicious deaths in a home for the disabled.

As if knowing Dalgliesh came from the announced author James, the series’ lead writer is award-winning writer and playwright Helen Edmundson (Mary Magdalene, An Inspector Calls, The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher).

She is joined by a host of behind-the-scenes talent, including writer Stephen Greenhorn (Doctor Who).

Lead director Jill Robertson (Trainspotting) is joined by Andy and Ryan Tohill (The Dig) and Lisa Clarke (Sanditon).

Looks cool on Dalgliesh

Producers include Georgie Fallon (Criminal: UK), Martin Mahon (Game of Thrones) and Emily Russell (Murder in Mind), and executive producer is Elaine Pyke for New Pictures.

Season 1 guest stars include Jeremy Irvine (War Horse), Natasha Little (War of the Worlds) and Mirren Mack (Sex Education).

Making its world premiere on Monday, November 1, 2021, exclusively on Acorn TV, AMC Networks’ acclaimed streaming service specializing in UK and international television, we have your exclusive first preview here.

We’ve also got your first look at the episode titles and premiere dates for each story, which will span a two-episode arc.
