Celtic have made a transfer offer for the international center-back

A new center-back will likely be at the top of Celtic’s summer wishlist. The club struggled at the back in the previous season.

There were several reasons for this. First of all, Christopher Jullien has spent most of the season on the sidelines with injuries. Secondly, Shane Duffy has failed to find his feet in Scottish football after arriving with great fanfare on a one-season loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Now, with Kristoffer Ajer set to leave this summer with just a year left on his contract, the club could very well look to sign a center-back in the near future. And it looks like they may have already taken their first steps regarding a move.

As reported by Aftonbladet (Going through 67 hail hail), Celtic have made a transfer offer for Joseph Okumu. The 24-year-old center-back currently plays for IF Elfsborg and the Kenya national team.

A number of other clubs have also been linked to the Celtic goal

Okumu seems to be a man in demand right now. It was last season that he established himself as a star of the IF Elfsborg first team and it goes without saying that he has managed to grab the attention of clubs across Europe.

Other than the hoops; Lorient, Reims, Ghent and Rangers are the clubs that would be interested in signing the Kenyan international.

At this point it looks like Lorient has presented the highest transfer offer of around € 3m, but IF Elfsborg is looking for a transfer fee of around € 4m in order to let the center-back go. .

It’s not hard to see why the Hoops might want to sign someone like Okumu. Standing at 6 4 ′ tall, he can replace Ajer’s towering figure, which appears to be heading towards the exit of Parkhead, in the heart of their defense. Okumu’s playing style has also been compared to that of Virgil van Dijk, which is exciting for any Celtic fan.
